Cream for dry hands
Hands that are washed and disinfected all day lose lipids faster than they rebuild them. That is the problem a hand cream has to solve.
Why professional hands dry out
Every wash removes some of the skin barrier lipids; alcohol-based disinfection is actually gentler on the barrier than repeated washing with detergent, but the combination of both, many times a day, is what leaves hands tight and cracked.
The practical answer is not less hygiene — it is replacing the lipids afterwards, and doing it at the end of every shift rather than once a week.
What to look for
Occlusive and humectant together
Something that both holds water in the skin and seals it — petroleum jelly-based balms are effective here.
Absorbs fast enough to use at work
A cream that leaves hands slippery will not get used between clients.
Fragrance you can live with
In a salon, everyone smells it. Unscented versions exist for a reason.
